Dear Valued Amerind Insured,
We are actively monitoring Hurricane Milton, which is expected to bring damaging hurricane-force winds and a life-threatening storm surge with destructive waves across portions of the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula through tonight.
Milton is anticipated to grow in size and remain an extremely dangerous hurricane as it approaches the west coast of Florida on Wednesday. A large area of destructive storm surge is forecast along parts of the west coast, posing a life-threatening situation. Residents in these areas should follow the advice of local officials and evacuate immediately if instructed to do so.
Potentially devastating hurricane-force winds are expected along the west coast of Florida, where a Hurricane Warning is in effect. Milton is expected to maintain hurricane strength as it crosses the Florida Peninsula, and life-threatening winds, especially in gusts, are expected to spread inland across the entire Florida Peninsula.
We urge you to complete all necessary preparations to protect life and property in the warning areas by Tuesday night, as tropical storm conditions are expected to begin early Wednesday.
Additionally, areas of heavy rainfall will begin impacting portions of Florida today, ahead of Milton. The heaviest rainfall, directly tied to the hurricane, will occur from Tuesday through Wednesday night, increasing the risk of considerable flash flooding, urban flooding, and potential moderate to major river flooding.
For your convenience, we’ve attached a Hurricane Preparedness Guide to assist in your emergency planning. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any additional support during this dangerous time.
You can also track Milton’s progress in real time via the National Hurricane Center.
Stay safe,
Amerind – Risk Control Team
