AMERIND CEO Derek Valdo Returns from Spiritual Sabbatical

Santa Ana Pueblo, NM – AMERIND is excited to announce the return of its Chief Executive Officer Derek Valdo following a year-long religious leave as appointed spiritual leader (3rd War Chief) for the Pueblo of Acoma.

Prior to his departure in January 2022, Valdo appointed Chief Operating Officer Robert Dahl as acting CEO. “Our greatest asset at AMERIND is our people,” stated Valdo. “With such a talented team in place under Robert’s thoughtful leadership, I was able to step away knowing our tribes would continue to receive the care and attention they’ve come to know from AMERIND.”

Valdo is grateful for the experience this past year as it added valuable teachings and understanding on the spiritual side.  Coupled with his business acumen and Tribal Councilman experience, he returns refreshed, recharged and eager to carry on AMERIND’ s important vision of Tribes Protecting Tribes.

AMERIND creates affordable, sustainable insurance products and services for Indian Country. Founded in 1986, it is the only 100 percent Tribally owned and operated insurance company and has earned an A- (Excellent) rating from AM Best. Giving back to Indian Tribes is one of AMERIND’ s top priorities. For more information, visit AMERIND.com.
